Safety & fair housing
Finding a room is personal. Here is how Roomeyra helps you do it with confidence.
Verified people
- Everyone who posts a room or sends a message verifies a phone number with a one-time code.
- A verified badge means the number was confirmed. It is not a background check or an endorsement.
Private by default
- Phone numbers are never shown. Chat happens inside Roomeyra until you choose to share more.
- Listings show an approximate area, not the exact address. People share the address when they are ready.
Before you commit
- See the room in person, or on a live video call, before paying anything.
- Never wire money, send gift cards, or pay a deposit to someone you haven't met.
- Be careful with anyone who rushes you, asks you to leave Roomeyra quickly, or says they are abroad.
- Get the lease terms in writing, and check that the person offering the room has the right to rent it.
Block and report
- Block anyone from a conversation. They can no longer message you, and you won't see each other's listings.
- Report listings, people or conversations from the menu. Reports are private, and a moderator reviews each one.
Fair housing
Describe the room and the household, not who may apply. Listings and messages must not discriminate based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability or familial status. Shared-living arrangements can have household preferences, such as quiet hours or a smoke-free home. Those are fine when they describe how the home runs rather than excluding a protected group. Listings that break these rules are removed.
In immediate danger?
Call your local emergency number. Roomeyra moderators can't respond to emergencies.
